Armenian weightlifter Grigor Ghazaryan won gold at the European Junior Championships in Madrid in the men’s 84 kg category with a total of 338 kg (148+190 kg).
According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports,Ghazaryan successfully completed all three snatch attempts, lifting 140 kg, 145 kg, and 148 kg. He set a new European junior record with his final lift. He also took gold in the clean and jerk, lifting 180 kg, 185 kg, and 190 kg, breaking records in both the clean and jerk and the total.
Earlier in May, Ghazaryan won gold at the World Youth Championships in Lima, competing in the 96 kg category with a total of 330 kg (145+185 kg).
