The Virtual Institute of Artificial Intelligence has officially been launched in Armenia, Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan has announced on Facebook.
The initiative, described as an open platform for innovation, is a strategic project of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry aimed at uniting innovators in artificial intelligence, technology companies, researchers and IT professionals.
“Although the foundation for this initiative was laid months ago, we have been waiting for the right moment when technological development, ecosystem maturity and strategic alignment would combine to ensure maximum long-term impact. That moment has come,” Minister Hayrapetyan stated.
The Minister highlighted the importance of international collaboration in the project, noting that Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Mistral AI, a leading European AI company, have joined efforts with Armenia to support the platform. Their involvement aims to advance the country’s national mission in AI through cutting-edge research, innovation, and product development.
“Initiatives like this best represent our dreams and ambitions for the future of Armenia,” Hayrapetyan noted, adding that the government will continue to build a sustainable and diverse ecosystem by combining global expertise, infrastructure and a shared vision.
The Minister invited researchers, startups, and IT creators to participate in what he described as a groundbreaking journey in the field of artificial intelligence.
