Today Marks a New Beginning in Armenia–US Partnership: JD Vance
Monday, February 9, 2026
U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that the partnership between Armenia and the United States is entering a new phase, speaking during a joint statement with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Yerevan.
According to Vance, the U.S. President and the Armenian Prime Minister have achieved many important results together.
“Peace is not made by cautious people. Peace is not made by people who are too focused on the past. Peace is made by people focused on the future. And because the Prime Minister made such great progress, we are not just making peace for Armenia, we are also creating real prosperity for Armenia and the United States together.
So much of the great economic cooperation we want to announce today would not be possible without your leadership (ed. PM Pashinyan), commitment to peace, as well as the leadership of the U.S. President,” Vance said.
“I do believe that today marks a new beginning for Armenia and the United States and the partnership they can build together,” the U.S. Vice President emphasized.
He said the sides would continue working together and highlighted what he described as an unprecedented technology deal.
The United States, he noted, was proud to issue a number of export licenses for the sale of high-powered NVIDIA chips. According to him, the move would open new markets for American workers and businesses while also contributing to greater prosperity for the people of Armenia.
“These are chips that simply do not exist in most countries in the world. They are now going to be developed, and the data centers using those chips are going to be built — and, in fact, are already being built — because of the Prime Minister’s leadership. We are very happy to partner on that. It will mean great things for American workers and, I think, great things for the people of Armenia as well,” he said.
