Svetlana Navasardyan
Wednesday, January 22, 2020Svetlana Navasardyan (Armenian: Սվետլանա Նավասարդյան, also known as Navassardian, born October 29, 1946), is an Armenian classical concert pianist.
During 1965 to 1968, Navasardyan studied at Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan in Vache Umr-Shat's class. In 1971, she graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (student in Yakov Zak's class), and in 1973 from postgraduate studies. In 1966, Navasardyan started performing as a soloist with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1974, Navasardyan began teaching at Yerevan State Conservatory, she became an Associate Professor in 1981 and Professor in 1989.
Svetlana Navasardyan is the winner of four International Competitions: Schumann Competition in 1966; Bach Competition in 1968; Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1972; Sydney Competition in 1977.
“The great Armenian pianist”, as she was called by the international press, performed in more than forty countries including the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Japan, China, Australia, Egypt, Kuwait. Navasardyan participated in International Festivals in Echternach (Luxembourg), Tours, Venice, Paris, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Potsdam, Sapporo, Granada.
Svetlana Navasardyan was welcomed in many major concert halls in the world, such as: “Great Hall” of the Moscow Conservatory, “Opera House” of Sydney, “Palais des Beaux-Arts” of Brussels, “Salle Gaveau” of Paris, ”Gewandhaus” of Leipzig, “Teatro Colon” of Buenos Aires, “Asahi Hall” of Tokyo, ”Phoenix-Hall” of Osaka, "Nybrokajen" of Stockholm to name a few. She collaborated with such famous soloists and conductors as Yevgeny Svetlanov, Valery Gergiev, Vassili Sinaysky, Eliso Virsaladze, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet, Rene Defausse, Siegfried Kohler, Karl Etti, Christopher Warren-Green, Aldo Sisillo, Viktor Tretyakov, Grigoriy Zhislin, Ruben Aharonian, Alexandre Brussilovsky, Vahan Mardirossian and many others.
Her repertoire includes Bach, Scarlatti, Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Chopin, Brahms, Liszt, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Hindemith, Shostakovich, Komitas, Khachaturian, Hovunts, Mansurian's and other's compositions. Her performances are distinguished by a unique interpretation that combines scale, dramatic equipment, power, and poetry. Navasardyan has performed concerts in many countries around the world, joined international festivals in Paris, Granada, Ekhternakhi (Luxembourg), as well as serving as a member of the jury during international competitions
