Tuesday, October 21, 2025
Green Rock has been selected as the winner in the category Best Sustainable Tourism Project at the World Tourism Awards 2025, presented during the Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels.
The World Tourism Awards celebrate outstanding travel, hospitality, and tourism initiatives from across more than 40 countries worldwide. Projects are selected for their innovation, impact, and contribution to sustainable development in the sector. This year’s ceremony in Brussels gathered heads of state, ministers, CEOs of leading hospitality and aviation companies, and sustainability experts to recognize the initiatives shaping the future of global tourism.
The Awarded Project: Multifunctional Complex in Dilijan
Green Rock’s winning initiative is the Multifunctional Complex in Dilijan – an ecosystem designed as a city-within-a-city. The development integrates hospitality, culture, gastronomy, retail, and public spaces, becoming a hub for both residents and visitors.
At its core, the project features a 210-room hotel and a 600-seat music hall, alongside cafés, park facilities, cinemas, a coworking space, and wellness and retail areas. The project is designed to diversify tourism beyond seasonal travel, create long-term employment, and strengthen Dilijan’s position as a cultural and tourism destination in Armenia and the wider region.
Katerina Danekina, CEO of Green Rock: “This award is an important recognition of our mission to build a modern, sustainable tourism ecosystem in Dilijan while respecting the environment and empowering local communities. From the very beginning, we have focused on long-term resilience — advancing sustainable practices across our operations and adhering to global standards such as EDGE certification. At the same time, the project becomes a catalyst for Dilijan’s development — creating more than 800 new jobs, raising the bar for quality and sustainability standards, and supporting the city’s broader economic and social growth.”
Ekaterina Bredikhina, CEO of Green Rock Foundation: “Green Rock Foundation supports the development of the Multifunctional Complex in Dilijan, creating opportunities for the local community, fostering culture, and opening new career paths. One of our key initiatives is the partnership with Apicius International School of Hospitality (Florence, Italy) to open Apicius Armenia — the first hospitality school of its kind in the region. Green Rock have provided 10 full scholarships for local students, making it possible for young people from Dilijan to gain world-class education and move directly into careers within our growing ecosystem — hotels, restaurants, and cultural venues.”
