Gabriel M Kazanjian was born about 1858, in Türkiye as the son of Michael Kazanjian and Rose Martin. He married Emma J (Mitchell) Kazanjian on 26 July 1887, in Rock, Wisconsin, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters.
If you look into the electronic archives of the American Patent and Trademark Office, you can find there the following entry: “Gabriel Kazanjian, a resident of the city of Chicago, first submitted his application for a patent for a handheld hairdryer in 1908, and the corresponding documents for the acquisition of a patent to him were issued only on June 6, 1911 ".
Mass production of these devices began in the United States in the early 20s, and, as is usually the case, the first model could not boast of perfect work: here you have a lot of weight (two pounds), constant overheating, and little power. Then the hairdryer began to evolve and slowly come to our usual form, but Kazanjyan's hairdryer can rightfully be called the great-grandfather of modern hand-held hair-drying devices.
But over time, the hot air apparatus has changed and evolved, becoming smaller, lighter, and more functional. Today, based on the first model of Kazanjyan, three types of devices for drying and styling hair are produced: a hair dryer concentrator with a slotted nozzle, a hair dryer diffuser, and a hair dryer.
