Dr. Vladimir Airapetian, Senior Astrophysicist at the Heliophysics Science Division (HSD) of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Research Professor at American University, DC, and Foreign Advisor at the Armenian Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, has received the NASA Goddard Center Director’s Award for his scientific research in 2025.
The Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory said in a press release that the Armenian scientist was recognized with the award for achieving exceptional progress in the field of solar and stellar physics. He demonstrated how powerful eruptions from the young Sun could have promoted the formation of life’s building blocks (prebiotic molecules) on early Earth.
