French officials, diplomats and distinguished guests gathered at the UNESCO headquarters for the Une vie d'Amour final concert of the series of Celebrations of the 100th Anniversary of Birth of Charles Aznavour, the legendary French-Armenian artist.

The final celebration event featured performances of Aznavour’s songs by the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra led by principal conductor and artistic director Eduard Topchjan and soloists Inga Arshakyan, Gor Sujyan and Gurgen Baveyan.

Singer Jules Grison and pianist Nobuyuki Nakajima also participated in the event as guest performers.

Welcoming remarks were made by Daniel Danielyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, Aram Hakobyan, the Permanent Representative of Armenia to UNESCO, Xing Qu, UNESCO Deputy Director-General and others.

The event was attended by UNESCO officials, French senators and other officials, members of the Armenian community of France and others.

The speakers lauded Aznavour’s work as an artist, a singer, a public figure in the development of music and promotion of universal values around the world.

Deputy Minister Danielyan said that Charles Aznavour has a special and irreplaceable place in the treasury of global music arts. He said that holding the final concert in the celebration series in a high international arena like the UNESCO headquarters conveys the message of universal responsibility for preserving cultural legacy.
