Armenians in Police Department of Glendale
Sunday, January 24, 2016Glendale has one of the biggest Armenian populations in California and in the United States. It is possible to say that Armenian is the second official language in Glendale. Every other business has Armenian owner.
The Glendale police department is considered one of the most diligent ones in Southern California. And it is natural to assume that in a city with such a big Armenian population, the police department would also have a certain number of Armenian officers. Yet this is not true about the Glendale police department.
In the criminal world of Southern California Armenians do have their part, and it is true that there are many Armenian gangs as well. But there is an opinion that Glendale police department sometimes treats Armenians harsher than others. What is the reason of putting a differentiation of this kind is not known.
And why does GPD not accept more Armenian officers in their rows? There are only a few Armenians working in Glendale police department and it is really surprising.
We can just hope that more and more Armenian fellows study in police academies and become proud members of not only GPD but also other police departments.
