Armenian Government Assists Evacuation Efforts from Iran
Wednesday, June 18, 2025
The Iranian-Israeli conflict is continuously escalating, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told lawmakers on June 18.
“Unfortunately, we see that as of this moment the Iran-Israel conflict is continuously escalating. Armenia’s position regarding regional peace has always been clear, we have always advocated peace, but we see that it doesn’t succeed in all cases,” he said.
He said the government isn’t only focused on assisting Armenians who are in Iran: Mirzoyan said the government is ready to assist nationals of every other country who need to evacuate Iran for safety precautions.
Armenia has a common land border with Iran in the south.
“Since this is a humanitarian matter, we participate in the process of evacuating or giving shelter to citizens of other countries as well. For example, we assisted a group of Indian students in crossing the border into Armenia and returning home. Such assistance has been provided to citizens of Zimbabwe, China, France and the US as well. This process is continuous, and we estimate that the volumes would only increase in the coming days,” Mirzoyan said.
