Information was spread on social media stating that an exhibition on the second floor of the Colosseum in Rome featured a map that omitted Armenia from the region.
According to the information, the map was displayed at the entrance to the exhibition complex titled Göbeklitepe: L’enigma di un luogo sacro (Göbeklitepe: The Mystery of a Sacred Place), located on the Colosseum's second level.
The website of the Colosseum Archaeological Park indicates that the exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Colosseum Archaeological Park, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Embassy in Rome.
Armenpress addressed the spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Ani Badalyan, for clarification of the issue.
Badalyan stated that upon learning about the exhibition, the ministry raised the issue with the relevant Italian authorities and organizers through the Armenian Embassy in Rome. She added that a positive response was received to address the matter.
“At present, Armenia is reflected on the map,” she said.
The exhibition to be open until March 2.
