Armenia and Kazakhstan to Exchange Experience in AI, Astana to Open TUMO Center
Friday, November 21, 2025
A TUMO Center will be opened in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, in 2026, the country’s president Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said after his meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to Tokayev, artificial intelligence and digitalization are key areas for developing cooperation between the two countries.
“Digitalization in Kazakhstan is developing rapidly and dynamically. Armenia has also achieved significant successes. This sector is a new locomotive that can help stimulate the development of both countries’ economies. We have agreed to exchange our experience in artificial intelligence technologies and digitalization,” the President of Kazakhstan said at a joint press conference.
He emphasized that the cooperation framework includes the creation of new educational and technological platforms.
“Next year, based on the alem.ai structure, the ‘Tumo Astana’ organization will be established,” Tokayev announced.
The discussions also covered cooperation in education and healthcare.
“We have signed intergovernmental agreements for student exchanges. There is great potential in the healthcare sector—we have agreed to hold Kazakhstan Medicine Days in Armenia and Armenia Medicine Days in Kazakhstan,” the Kazakh President said.
Tokayev also highlighted the development of cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
“Last year, Armenian Culture Days were held in Astana, and Kazakh cultural events were organized in Yerevan. In Yerevan, a park named after Abay [Kunanbaev] was opened, and today, in Astana, a street has been named after Saint Mesrop Mashtots. This reflects the spiritual closeness of our peoples,” Tokayev concluded.
TUMO is an innovative learning center and educational program originally based in Armenia that focuses on technology and creative skills. TUMO offers a unique blend of self-paced exploration, hands-on workshops, and expert-led labs for teens to develop real-world skills across 14 dynamic disciplines—from coding and robotics to music and graphic design.
The first TUMO Center was established in Yerevan, Armenia in 2011. Since then, TUMO has expanded internationally.
