About 30 Veterans of WWII Still Alive in Armenia

About 30 World War II veterans are still alive in Armenia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs said on May 9, the WWII Victory Day.
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in WWII, also referred to as the Great Patriotic War in post-Soviet countries.
600,000 Armenians fought in various theaters during WWII and contributed to the victory of the Allies.
104 Armenians received the Hero of the USSR title. Air Force pilot Nelson Stepanyan was awarded the Hero of the USSR title twice. 70,000 Armenian soldiers were awarded various orders and medals for valor; 27 private soldiers received the Order of Glory. Notable Soviet-Armenian commanders were Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan, Marshal Hamazasp Babajanyan, Marshal Sergey Khudyakov (Khamperyants), Marshal Sergey Aghanov and Admiral Hovhannes Isakov.
