Job Description:

Train of Thought is an organization that teaches children the rules, discipline, and strategy of chess in school. Train of Thought is using the game of chess to reshape students’ lives. Since 2006, the program has been spreading its passion and love for the game of chess. See more about our organization at chesstrain.org.

This is an opportunity to have a positive impact on the lives of students and families through teaching the game of chess. Whether you have teaching experience or just a passion for teaching children, we want to meet you. Coaches will travel to multiple schools in Los Angeles County teaching and inspiring children through the game of chess. We are looking for mentors who have the ability to motivate, educate, and help children discover everything that's great inside of them. No chess experience is required; just a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of children.

Part-time (20-35 hours per week)

Salary:
$18 per hour (training)
$25 per hour (salary)

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (preferred, but not required)
Teaching experience (preferred, but not required)
Chess experience (preferred, but not required)
Strong desire to motivate and raise the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students (required)
Strong work ethic and ability to work alone or as part of a team (required)
Ability to learn and teach using our curriculum and proven methods for improving at chess (required)
Background check (required)
Reliable transportation (required)
